Foldable phones are seizing the market with silver nanowire as the key material

Organized by the Mobile No. 1 Research Institute, the "2019 AI Smart Manufacturing Summit" was held in the Guangdong Modern International Exhibition Center on May 17, 2019. Cambrios' Thomas Chen, Director of Application Engineering, spoke at the Summit on the advantages of silver nanowire (SNW) material in foldable phone manufacturing applications. In his speech, Mr. Chen presented Cambrios' metal on SNW (MOS) conductive film solution, which provides exceptional optical performance for fulfilling the manufacturing needs of touch panels from 1 to 100 inches. Cambrios' MOS is particularly suited to foldable touch panel applications due to its bendability performance.

As the leading SNW solution provider, Cambrios has been devoted to the research and development of commercially-viable SNW materials since 2005. Cambrios' elite team of scientists provides customers with optimized SNW solutions, while its comprehensive global patent portfolio covers all aspects of the SNW film supply chain, providing peace of mind to customers wanting to avoid costly patent disputes.

Following a successful close to the Summit, the silver nanowire industry now moves its focus to the 2019 Global SNW Forum scheduled for August 1, 2019, organized by Trend Bank.

As mentioned, SNW is gaining traction in various applications this year. Beyond large form factor applications (65" or larger; e.g., interactive whiteboards) and foldable devices, SNW's excellent optical and electrical characteristics coupled with its robust reliability well-position it for use in other important applications such as photovoltaic cells, smart glass/windows, and medical devices.

Every SNW manufacturer, related supply chain partner, and those interested in SNW are invited to join in promoting this disruptive material technology and expanding SNW's reach to new and innovative application markets.
