Dan Maydan Joins Cambrios Board of Directors
Mountain View, California — Dec. 11, 2006 — Cambrios Technologies Corporation announced today that Dan Maydan, retired President and Director of Applied Materials, Inc., has joined its board of directors. Maydan brings 40 years of combined industry and leadership experience to Cambrios.
“Dan has been a tremendous addition to our board of directors,” said Cambrios President and CEO, Michael R. Knapp. “He has helped us focus our business strategy and has pushed us to be ambitious. His advice is vivid and actionable – a clear manifestation of his experience leading the most important technology-driven company serving the electronics manufacturing industry. We are lucky to have his guidance.”
During his 26-year tenure with Applied Materials, Maydan served in numerous positions and is credited with the very fast growth that has brought the company into a leadership position as a supplier of process equipment to the semiconductor and Liquid Crystal display industries.
“In its transparent conductor material, Cambrios has developed a solution to a large customer need,” said Maydan. “The display industry needs new manufacturing technology that will reduce costs. The Cambrios product will do that, but its superior performance should also facilitate rapid adoption by flat panel display makers. The next years will be a very exciting time for the company.”
Cambrios is an electronic materials company developing innovative, proprietary materials to simplify electronics manufacturing processes and improve end-product performance. Cambrios’ solution processable transparent conductor, which is compatible with existing thin film wet process coating equipment, will replace sputter coated transparent conductive oxide thin films.
Dr. Maydan is an elected member of the National Academy of Engineering and serves on the Board of Directors of Laser Card Corp. and EFI.
